Whitman is known across the world as an innovator in free verse poetry, as a powerful voice in support of democracy, and as a representative of outsiders from a variety of backgrounds. Lehigh is in a unique position to join this celebration with its world-class Whitman holdings, including multiple first and significant later editions. Also on display are works by Whitman’s bohemian contemporaries and writers who have drawn inspiration from him. Tours offered at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
